EVERYTHING ABOUT SIGMA GAMMA RHO SORORITY

  Seven young educators of Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana founded a non-profit sorority named,  Sigma Gamma Rho  Sorority Inc. on November 12, 1922. It became a national collegiate sorority on December 30, 1929, after a charter was permitted to Alpha chapter. It is a social organization headquartered in Cary, North Carolina USA. “Greater Service and Greater Progress” is the slogan of the big sorority with over 100,000 members and 500 undergraduate and alumnae chapters. Women may join the  Sigma Gamma Rho  through undergraduate chapters at a college or university level or through an alumnae chapter depending upon their qualification. Out of four historically African-American sororities, it is the only sorority to comprise the National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) established at a predominantly white campus.
